I’m as shocked as anyone else. To say the Saint’s 2015 season has gotten off to a rough start would be an understatement. Couple that with the fact that the Atlanta Falcons is undefeated this season it makes the Saints win tonight a complete surprise. But if there were one to win.. it would be this one.

A career day from Benjamin Watson and another 300-yard from Drew Brees helped lead the New Orleans Saints to a 31-21 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night.

The loss is the first of the season for the Falcons. That leaves just five teams without a loss on their record.

Watson caught 10 passes for a career-high 127 yards and a touchdown and the Falcons struggled to keep the Saints tight end in check. It’s just the third 100-yard game of Watson’s career and only the second time he’s had 10 catches in a game.

Brees finished with 313 passing yards and Mark Ingram scored a pair of goal line touchdowns to lead the Saints.

Michael Mauti also blocked a Falcons punt and returned it for a touchdown that was reminiscent of Steve Gleason’s immortalized block in the first primetime game back in the Superdome following Hurricane Katrina.

Devonta Freeman had another big day for the Falcons. He rushed for 100 yards on 13 carries and scored a rushing and receiving touchdown.

But the Falcons fumbled five times and lost three to the Saints. It was too much for the Atlanta offense to overcome.
