In her new video “Steel Here” Tisha Campbell {Martin} opens up and confronts her demons. Campbell says her song and video is about forgiving her abuser who violated her when she was just 3 years old. Since the video is her therapy I hate shading it, but I found it absolutely disturbing and am truly concerned for her.

Tisha spoke about the assault for the first time publicly on the “The Daily Helpline” back in August. Up until then it’s been her personal cross to bear which I’m sure must have been a heavy cross at such a young age.

“I knew as a child that I did nothing wrong and that this wasn’t my fault. I have found forgiveness in the guilt that I might have had.”

In one scene from the video, Tisha can be seen wearing a black dress with running mascara and the words from her rapist’s apology letter written on her in black.

Campbell-Martin told Hip Hollywood that her husband, actor Duane Martin, encouraged her to get back into the music industry. The actress sang in the musical “Little Shop of Horrors” and released a self-titled album in 1993.

“My husband was very encouraging, like, ‘like you ain’t gonna look at me shoulda, coulda, woulda,’ ” she said. ” ‘You better go out there and sing again.’ “~ From

Sounds like he just wanted to get her out of the house {For other reason} , but there’s no way that anyone who loves you can see you in this much pain and think the best way to deal with it is to throw yourself into the shark tank of an entertainment environment in the age of social media. So if he’s responsible then I know she doesn’t have the support she needs at home. This was beyond hard to watch. Because I couldn’t watch. I couldn’t let my eyes meet up with her sad eyes not one time. The dancing was odd. The looks were out dated. Tisha is not a young woman, but that’s ok if you find a style and a groove that works for you. She didn’t do that here. And I won’t even mention the obvious occult symbolism.

I’m mad with whoever hurt her. I’m mad she’s still dealing with this. And I’m angry that thousands of boys and girls across the country But it does show the disastrous effects of child abuse. Here in New Orleans you can’t go two days without hearing about child rapes in the city. Just the other day two men were arrested for raping their 3 year old cousin. It makes you wonder if one can ever overcome that. Tisha is making us deal with the fact that many Do Not.

Maybe we need to see the results of these demonic acts in all their ugly uncomfortableness. It might not make these lunatics think twice, but perhaps it will encourage the rest of us to protect the flock more diligently.

Qmunity your thoughts on Tisha’s new music.
