There’s a weird vibe in New Orleans this week after it was finally announced that Kaylan Ward, 16 was the teenager girl found on the Interstate 10 Overpass near Bullard Ave. in Eastern New Orleans last week. The story the public is being given is that Kaylan was the victim of a hit and run accident while looking for a ride to her Uptown residence at 12 a.m. June 4th. However, there are other factors that have led the public to believe we’re not being told the entire truth.
The first is that the same day Kaylan’s body was found two other “bodies” were found publicly throughout the city on the same day. The cause of death for those bodies was never revealed, nor were the identities.
Local social media rumors (for what they are worth) suggest that Kaylan did receive that ride from a less than compassionate soul and the result of that meeting is how she met her demise.
Rumors are floating that Kaylan’s body was disposed of in those other two locations reported on the same day. Social media posts (allegedly from relatives) have circulated stated that Kayla was sexually assaulted, shot, and dismembered. I don’t like spreading such macabre rumors, but they are out there. Allegedly it’s the family posting them with Kaylan’s mom even warning rebellious teens to be mindful of their choices.
“Young people don’t want to listen to your parents,” Kenisha Martin-Nelson said. “This is what happens when you don’t listen.”
Adding to the speculation was the discovery of another female body found on the Interstate this morning in Metairie this morning June 10th. The body of 19 year old Jasilas Wright was found dismembered on the interstate early Wednesday morning. Police are remaining tight lipped, but citizens don’t think “two” dismembered bodies in two weeks is a coincidence. I understand that the authorities cannot compromise their case. What worries me is if they are competent enough to catch this psychopath (Out of the thousands that live here) before he kills again.
Some say we’re all getting worried for no reason. I say better safe than sorry. Qmunity what say you? Are we making too much out of nothing or should young women in the area be on guard?
