kwame

The former Mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick, has just been convicted of 24 charges that include: racketeering, extortion, attempted extortion, bribery, mail fraud, wire fraud, and filing false tax returns.  Kilpatrick’s father was also found guilty of one tax count the Huffington Post is reporting, along with contractor Bobby Ferguson who was found guilty of 9 out of 11 counts.

kwame guilt

Apparently Kwame, Bobby, and Big Daddy we’re “Getting Munnie”all on the residents of Detroit’s dime.  If you look at the state the city of Detroit is in, especially for blacks, you can’t help but to feel contempt and disgust for this trio.  So many of our leaders are getting into office for the perks high life.   It’s become just another hustle for charismatic smooth talkers.  That’s all anyone does these days…Hustle, jive and steal.  No integrity. NO heroes.  Kilpatrick used funds intended for needy Detroiters on vacations, gifts for himself, and yoga classes (fancy huh?); while making sure Bobby received over $84 million in contracts.  Big Daddy was also getting his on the side by demanding bribes in exchange for city contracts.

Kilpatrick left city hall back in 2008 after pleading guilty to two counts of obstruction of justice related to a text message sex scandal with a former employee in which he spent a year in jail and agreed to paying a million in restitution.  I bet that’s gonna feel like a walk in the park compared to what they have him on now.   I’m quite sure that sentencing is going to deliver him his news and several long years of seats.  Well deserved in my opinion.

Kwame ego

I just can’t help but to reflect on this verdict, the recent conviction of Jesse Jackson Jr., the indictment of New Orleans former Mayor Ray Nagin, and how this is such a disappointment to the black community.  I don’t think black politicians are doing anything different than their white counterparts, but because they aren’t as connected as they think they are, they’ll always go down for it.  Or perhaps it truly is just their own greed and arrogance.  They get an appointed position and start feeling like the “King of New York” and need to throw their weight around.  Who knows?  Either way the regular people are the ones who get screwed in the end with blacks not even getting any Vaseline.  **sighs**
