She was feeling her CardiB moment.

{This blog is not for the overly-woke, white, or whitewashed black respectables}

Kendrick Lamar is in the headlines for shutting down his show after a girl he brought on stage to sing one of his songs was “unable” to censor out the N-word.

A white woman has been booed at a Kendrick Lamar gig for singing the N-word on stage.

The rapper invited the woman, who identified herself only as “Delaney”, to sing M.A.A.D City during his set at the Hangout Festival in Alabama.

But Kendrick stopped her after she repeatedly used the N-word – which is heard multiple times in his song.

As the crowd reacted angrily, Kendrick told her: “You gotta bleep one single word.”

She appeared not to realize why she had been stopped, and asked: “Am I not cool enough for you, bro?”

The crowd in Gulf Shores, Alabama started booing on hearing the woman sing the racial slur.

She apologised, saying: “Oh I’m sorry, did I do it?”

Kendrick then asked the audience if she should be given another try – and despite many shouting “No!”, Kendrick allowed her a second run at the song.

And she almost said it again.

It is important to not that the crowd was almost all white and others who came on stage were able to not say the word. Like this guy.

And this guy is great AND I’m glad that Kendrick stopped the little girl from embarrassing herself, but this is a revisit to a classic conversation. The downsides of crossing over. And in THIS particular situation I can see both sides. Unlike The Root I won’t pander and pretend this situation could not have been avoided.

The thing about millennials like K.Dot is that they are very “pro-black” in white spaces. K.Dot is the cool black guy that whites like. And he profits off that. {And I’m not saying this in any type of negative way. This is what capitalism is. But capitalism is a beast that shits where it wants.} He doesn’t “happen” to have a white audience. His record company specifically targets it. So he’s aware that white people by his music in droves. He wants them to, and they do. They spend their coin on his albums and concert tickets. They listen to him say “nigga” so much that it’s conditioned into them. And while I agree with every reason that whites {Even cool whites and wiggers} shouldn’t say the word, I also feel like if you’re going to make the word a part of the product you sell and whites are buying that product then you are indirectly letting them use the word as part of that purchase. And any of those purchasers who don’t do use it are doing so as a courtesy. But don’t expect those same courtesies you get in Seattle down here in Klan country.

I’m glad he shut down the show, but I won’t give him credit for using the word “nigga” to his all white audiences and then going all pro-black after he gets their coin. Because {And as horrible as this sounds} you aren’t a rebel. You’re their entertainment. And if you can’t give them another song to sing that doesn’t have the word “nigga” in it then don’t ask white people to sing it. It’s as simple as that. Cause if I’m at my fave’s concert in front of thousands of people I guarantee I’d be too nervous to censor any words out that might offend someone. I’mma do me. So I’m not mad at old girl for doing her! It was tacky as hell, but he shoulda made an announcement not to say it first because, AGAIN, this is Alabama we talking about here. It’s just as cringeworthy when CardiB says it if we’re going to be honest.

Give her her money back if you feel that strongly about it.

Instead of looking at it like she shouldn’t have said it we really need to like at how its now being normalized by black musicians whose primary audience is white. And the crowd can grown and Boo, but they know they be saying that shit at home.¬†

Look mama…I can write a think piece too!
